About Us
Most decoration websites tell you to buy things. We built DecoratorAdvice com to do something different.
Where This Started
DecoratorAdvice.com was created for one specific type of person: the US homeowner who has tried the usual advice — the mood boards, the Pinterest saves, the “10 ways to refresh your living room” articles — and ended up with a room that still doesn’t feel right, plus a credit card statement that does.
The problem isn’t effort. It’s the advice itself. Most decoration content is built around products, not principles. It optimizes for clicks, not results. We decided to write the resource we kept wishing existed.
What We Actually Believe
Good decoration is mostly editing. The rooms that feel calm, intentional, and genuinely livable didn’t get there by adding more. They got there when someone made a series of disciplined decisions about what to keep, what to move, and what to remove entirely.
That philosophy shapes everything we publish. The DecoraDHouse framework we developed with DecoratorAdvice is built on subtraction before addition — a structured approach that works in a 700-square-foot Chicago apartment just as well as a four-bedroom home in suburban Texas.
What We Cover
We write about home decoration for real US living situations. That means articles on lighting decisions most homeowners overlook, furniture scaling rules that cost nothing to apply, room-specific hacks tested by actual decorators, and honest guidance on where to spend versus where to save.
We don’t cover luxury renovations, six-figure kitchen remodels, or trends that’ll look dated in 18 months. Not because those things aren’t interesting — they are — but because they don’t help the audience we actually care about.
Our Editorial Standard
Every piece of content on DecoratorAdvice.com goes through a two-part filter: Is it accurate? Is it actionable? If an article can’t pass both, it doesn’t go up. We cite data when we use it, we update posts when information changes, and we don’t publish sponsored content disguised as editorial.
The team behind this site includes interior design consultants, home renovation specialists, and writers who have covered the US housing market for years. The advice here is grounded in professional experience, not algorithm optimization.
The Goal
We want every person who lands on DecoratorAdvice.com to leave with something they can actually do. Not inspiration without direction. Not a shopping list. A clear next step toward a home that works better — starting today, with what they already have.
That’s the standard we hold ourselves to. It’s also why people come back.
